We are living through a political storm. Across Europe and the U.S., societies are marked by
upheaval, polarisation, and mistrust. A new chapter in political life has begun—welcomed by
some, feared by many. When Peace Comes Out of War is an exhibition that meets this
moment—defined by fragility, uncertainty, and potential.
Created by Corinna Sahl and Erik Schmelz, the project invites visitors to engage directly with
the present, rather than turn away. Drawing on the ideas of Hannah Arendt, Lord Byron, and
other political thinkers, it asks: Can peace emerge from conflict itself, not merely survive in its
absence?
